The Counselling Journey

Counselling is a bit like going on a journey together…

We start by building a safe place which will always be there when you need it. That’s the confidential space where we meet and the professional relationship built on trust, acceptance and caring between us.

My lovely room away from it all; very quiet!

We learn what’s important for you – your destination – where you would like to be.

We explore the environment at your pace. You lead the way, and I walk beside you.

The path is clear

I may notice some things you haven’t seen or other paths we can try.

The path less travelled

It’s your choice where we explore. If we decide to go into a deep forest I am there by your side; you’re not alone.

Woods can look scary but you're not alone

I learn more about what it’s like to be you.

I offer calm, kindness, compassion, respect and acceptance of you as you are right now. You start to learn to treat yourself that way too.

Laughter, tears, anger, shame and all feelings are welcome here and you start to feel free to be yourself.

Apple blossom will bear fruit

Throughout the journey you see things you want to pick up and take with you – like new skills and ideas.

You may notice the burden of the backpack you have been carrying with you through your life and choose to leave some of those things behind, feeling so much lighter now.

Blooming now ! Yellow roses are lovely.

We celebrate when we see progress. As you gain in confidence it feels right to try new paths on your own.

When you feel you are ready to carry on this journey without me, we prepare to say farewell and you carry on, on your own path of your choosing.

prepare to go your own way. Which path will you follow?

You leave with new resources of your own and also knowing where you can seek support if you lose your way.

Abundant purple blooms
